National Week of Prayer for our Streets
- October 24 -31
Praying to see a change in our communities
This is an annual week of prayer for the Nation, based on the extensive network of Street Pastor projects. The last one was 24th-31st October 2011, and focused on
the line in the Lord’s Prayer “...thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven”. Praying locally for a change nationally!
. Report by Wendy Thomas:
Thank you for all you did during prayer week. I would love to hear what happened and whether you felt God was saying anything in particular. I will pass this on to everyone so they can be encouraged.
Here in Southend we started the week with the book of Nehemiah, where he weeps over Jerusalem being in ruins. We felt that feeling God wanted our hearts to be broken with the things that break His heart.
Midweek we felt that God was showing His heart is the heart of a father. We as His sons and daughters are princes and princesses, and we need to find our identity in our relationship with Him as father. We prayed about families and the fatherlessness in the nation and praying gods father heart over our nation.
At the end of the week, we thought that God was talking about abundance and his provision and the promised land. Our promised land is where God's kingdom is on earth. What would it look like if each of our towns was a place where God's kingdom came on earth? God provides in abundance where there is lack. He makes the barren places fruitful. Where are the barren places that need to be made fruitful in our own lives, in the life of our church, our town, our nation?
Please get in touch with me with any thoughts and what you think God has been saying to you this past week.
National Year of Prayer 2012
I know many places were praying during prayer week and after all that happened I am looking forward to the National Year of Prayer 2012. This starts on 1st January 2012 and we are wanting to cover our nation in prayer 24/7/365 during 2012. To do this we need Street Pastor groups, individual churches and ministries, churches together in towns etc to contact me and sign up for 24 hour periods or 2 days or a weekend or week of 24/7 prayer. This can be done in your own way as God leads you and may involve a prayer room or people praying from home or other ways. More suggestions to come but please email me and be part of covering our nation in prayer.
Blessings,
Wendy Thomas

October 18
Hi Everyone,
Thank you for your hard work and organisation as we get closer to our National Week of Prayer!
I have written some
Daily Prayers
, to help us pray. Please feel free to use in your own times with God or together for Street, School and College Pastors. I have also included a
Prayer Guide
from Winchester Street Pastors, based on one from Southampton Street Pastors. Thank you to both those areas for your ideas. I hope these examples will inspire you as you think about prayer in your local areas.
