New Manchester Street Pastors Coordinator Tony Winter has been recruiting volunteers for a new Street Pastor team for the Longsight area of Manchester. This team is being set up in partnership with local churches and in response to a request from the local Police. After an initial training weekend on November 11, and further training in December the team had their first evening on the streets on December 17.

Street Pastors launch in ManchesterStreet Pastors launch in Manchester - Wednesday, April 28, 2004

The Street Pastors project that Carisma has been helping set up on behalf of local churches was launched at a meeting of 'Manchester Prayer Network'. Guests included Rev Les Isaac, founder of Street Pastors in London, and Chief Supt Neil Wain of Greater Manchester Police. There are now around 20 Street Pastor applicants who will begin training on June 12, before going out on the streets in early July.
