The Maidstone Street Pastors initiative was launched in January 2008 with the first set of Street Pastors out on the streets of Maidstone in October of that year.

Maidstone is the clubbing capital of Kent with up to 12,000 party goers on a Saturday night. Street Pastors work closely alongside the police, paramedics and the brand new "Urban Blue" bus project to provide emotional, spiritual and practical support to those in need.

Regularly confused as Street 'Pasties', Street 'Pasta', and Street 'Patrol', the pastors have quickly established themselves as an integral part of the Saturday night time economy. Excellent relationships have been built up with door staff, police and the Saturday night revellers and the Pastor's aim to be "lights in the darkness" has been warmly received.

A second tranche of Street Pastors completed their training in the summer of 2009 and there are now 37 members of the team, enabling coverage on a weekly basis. The team are backed up on their nights out by a small but dedicated team of prayer supporters which we're keen to grow. Please contact us for more information.
