Orpington Street Pastors launched in September 2006. Since then we have maintained a patrol each Friday evening. In 2008, our coordinator Ray received a Saferbromley Partnership award in recognition of his contribution to local community. In 2010, Orpington Street Pastors won the community category in the “Orpington’s Finest” competition, decided by public vote.
In September 2011, we launched the first College Pastors initiative in the country, adapted from the School Pastors model. This has been enthusiastically welcomed by both students and the Student Services staff at the College. In November 2011, following a request from Student Services, we launched a Christian Union in the College. In the same month, we launched School Pastors at Copper’s School in Chislehurst.
In December 2011, Orpington held a Christmas Tree Festival and the Street Pastors tree won the Adult Group category. |
