In December 2008, Preston and South Ribble Street Pastors were commissioned and began work on the streets of the St Matthew and St George area of the city on Friday evenings. We began with 24 volunteers but this has now grown to over 40 from 20 different churches.

In December 2009 we were invited by the police to expand our work by crossing over London Road and including the city centre after closing time, and we are also currently training our newest volunteers with a view to launching a second, separate team in the south of the city from Easter 2010.

As of March 2010 there are a total of 21 churches supporting the project.
