Bideford is a small town in North Devon which has become a clubbing centre for a wide area. A few years ago a national newspaper voted the town as one of the ten best places in the world to be on New Year’s Eve when 15-20 thousand people in fancy dress throng the Quayside. Every Friday and Saturday night, the town’s pubs and clubs are thronged. Some of the clubs and takeaways stay open until 4am.

Bideford’s churches run a support team and safe area each New Years Eve and now Street Pastors enables us to extend that care all the year around. Bideford’s first Street Pastors were commissioned at a special service held in the town’s largest nightclub, Caesars Palace, on 13 June 2009. We go out on Saturday nights and patrol the town from 10pm to 4am.

We are currently looking for another 20 volunteers so that we can also do some Fridays and special occasions the police have identified.  You can download an application form from our website.
