Churches Together in Ashford began to look into the scheme in early 2009 when a number of people from different churches felt prompted to pray for young people and the town’s night life. As a result, the idea that kept being mentioned was Street Pastors.

We now have eight different churches signed up and at the same time, Ashford Borough Council and Kent Police are keen to help us make a real impact in the community.

Ashford Street Pastors launched in May 2010 and has now recruited 13 Street Pastors and 5 Prayer Pastors in our first batch (with more Prayer Pastors still being added!). Our training began on Saturday 18th September and will continue into 2011.

We held our Commissioning Service and first duty on Friday 12th November 2010 and are now have teams out in Ashford twice each month on a Friday night; usually the last Friday and two weeks before that date.

Get in contact with us if you’d like to receive our duty reports, or if you’d like to find out about getting involved.

We are now looking forward to September and the start of our second training programme for new Street Pastors. This will enable us to cover more nights each month, and be good news to many more people.

Thanks!

Tom
