After a number of meetings held to inform local churches and to see what interest they would be for this initiative in Kirkcaldy. Kirkcaldy Street Pastors was launched on Monday 21 September in the Town House, Kirkcaldy. Representatives from the local Churches, Fife Council and Fife Constabulary took part and all present were encouraged by this ‘urban trinity’ committed to working together to further the vision of Street Pastors.

20 Street Pastors are currently serving on the streets of Kirkcaldy and more will join in the near future. They will work in co-operation with the local police, local council, taxi marshals and publicans on Friday and/or Saturday evenings, 10pm-4am.

Street Pastors – which is run through a national charity – was set up locally by a group of church members. The project aim as to help churches deliver practical help and support to young people by working in the town centre at weekends. Street Pastors – all members of churches – look out for vulnerable people, help people get home and hand out supplies of water and blankets where needed.
