Ian Humphries and a local CID sergeant had the initial vision for Street Pastors early in 2008. We began to make enquiries and talk about the possibility of Street Pastors in the Pendle area. Les Issac came up to Nelson to speak to local Churches in March 2008. On the back of this we collected names of volunteers from around seven Churches. We commenced the training in May. After completing session 5 we ordered the uniforms and acquired other equipment through local police.
Pendle Street Pastors was launched on September 12, 2008 at a civic event at the town hall with Les Isaac. This was followed by an evening celebration and the team's first patrol on the streets. We look forward to all that God will do through us to make a real difference in a troubled borough. The training programme is scheduled to be completed by early 2009.
