The Street Pastors project was launched in Stafford on the 28th September, and we first went out on the streets of Stafford on the 4th of December 2009. All Street pastors are members of local churches who have chosen to respond positively to the nighttime problems of a town.

At present we have 19 Street Pastors and we go out on the streets of Stafford town centre on a Friday night between 10pm and 4am, to listen and to care for the people of Stafford. We give out flip-flops, water and lollies, occasionally chocolate or chips and even space blankets, and possibly direct people towards other help.
We have a wonderful relationship with the Police and Stafford Borough Council, and the pubs and clubs as well as with the door staff.

We are now hoping to double this number so that we can be out on patrol on a Saturday night as well. To be a Street Pastor you need to be over 18 (no upper age limit), a church member and able to commit to a 12 session training course.

Street Pastors are not out there to preach but to show God cares in a practical way. If you see us out on the streets please come and say hello
