Street Pastors Awards

There are now around 250 Street Pastor projects in cities, towns and villages around the country with thousands of volunteers serving their local communities week by week. Some of this work has been recognised through awards for excellence given to the project or an individual or given to wider work where a project has been an important partner.

Walsall Mayor's Award

May 9, 2012: Team leaders from Walsall Street Pastors with their Mayor's award for their work in making Walsall safer.

Chief Superintendent Keith Fraser West Midlands Police said most crime stats had fallen in the last year. The only change in that time had been the arrival of the Street Pastors.

The wording on the award reads: "For showing selfless service to the public by looking after those people who may be vulnerable during our night time economy and helping Walsall town centre to become a safer and more enjoyable place to be without consideration for any renumeration or benefit to yourselves."

This was actually the third award Walsall Street Pastors have received this year. The first was a ‘Community Chest’ award from Walsall Housing Group, and the second an award from West Midlands Police Authority.

It was totally unexpected and the applause/cheering from the 100 or so guests at the dinner very humbling."
