Street Pastors Awards

Epsom and Ewell Street Pastors received two Local Heroes Awards on June 24, 2009. They won the Community Group Award - a group that has worked to improve the quality of life in a neighbourhood, and received the certificate and inscribed star from Lady Elizabeth Toulson, the High Sheriff of Surrey. The Surrey Chief Constable, Mark Rowley, was very positive about the contribution the team makes and says he values amongst other things the way they are ‘reclaiming’ night time town centres for all people.  Street Pastors are normalising the idea of being out there and helping to combat the fear of crime that can prevail.

The team were then surprised to also win the overall ward - Local Heroes Award for Exceptional Actions – which acknowledges the outstanding action of an individual or group that has gone beyond expectation in helping to make Surrey a safer place in which to live, work and travel.
